The Welder I is responsible for fabricating and welding metal structures and components to create finished products according to specifications and quality standards. Essential functions include reading and interpreting weld symbols on technical drawings and blueprints, configuring welding machines and equipment, performing welding operations using MIG welding techniques to conform to specified dimensions, ensuring all welds are complete and meet required quality standards, repairing bad welds as necessary, using and operating various cutting equipment, maintaining a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols, assisting with the annual inventory audit process, and performing other duties as assigned by supervisor. Regular, reliable, punctual, and consistent attendance is required. Must be able to work regular and/or flexible hours or shifts, overtime, weekends as required.
Requirements include no experience necessary, on the job training provided, ability to pass an internal 1G welding test, and ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Physical demands include frequent communication with others to exchange information, frequent repetition of motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers, frequent moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another, frequent lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions, constantly remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, constantly thinking and processing information, and constantly maintaining concentration and focus on tasks. Work environment includes a manufacturing floor with machinery, exposure to airborne particles, loud noises, and extreme heat and cold, and use of personal protection equipment is required.
